“Volleyball Legends Ceylon to Sri Lanka” edited by Susil Ranasinghe,launched

Launching of the book “Volleyball Legends Ceylon to Sri Lanka” The launch of the book “Volleyball Legends Ceylon to Sri Lanka” edited by Susil Ranasinghe and Published by Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation on the history of volleyball in Sri Lanka from 1954 to 2021 was held on 16th November 2021 at the Galle Face Hotel, Colombo.

Honarable Namal Rajapakshe Minister of Youth and Sports as Chief Guest, the Ambassador of Republic of Cuban to Sri Lanka His Excellency Andrew Marcelo Gonzalez, President of the Sri Lanka Volleyball Association Hon. Kanchana Jayaratne, Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Mr. Anuradha Wijekoon, and Mr. Susil Ranasinghe, Editor of the book grace this Occasion.

This event was followed by Tribute of Senior Living Volleyball Players namely Mr. Piyaratne Weerasinghe, a senior Sri Lankan volleyball player born in 1924, aged 98 and also born in 1936, aged 85-year-old representing the first national volleyball team in 1955 and also National Colours Winning Player Mrs. Biyatris Chandralatha was Tribute by Honourable Namal Rajapaksa, Minister of Youth and Sports and other special guests paid their respects.

Former Presidents of the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation Hon. Dilan Perera (M.P), Hon. Dr. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya and Mr. Sunil Priyantha Nawarathna were also present at the occasion.
