The Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA) of Sri Lanka joined hands with one of the major Information and Communication Technology (ICT) brands in the world, Huawei, to digitize the mercantile cricket stats using Huawei Cloud service, together with Cric HQ and Sports Intel.

The partnership was announced at a media briefing held at the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo yesterday (25).

Sports Intel and Huawei

Sports Intel had worked hand in hand with MCA and the Sri Lanka Scorers’ Association to digitize stats using cloud services. However, obtaining tablets for the scorers had been an issue, it was revealed at the media conference yesterday.

That is when Sports Intel had been approached by Huawei Sri Lanka who sought to sponsor the tablets for the scorers.

Their goal is to digitize all levels of cricket from school, domestic, informal district level, and academy cricket. By joining hands, players will be able to access all statistics at any given moment and it will automatically help uplift the game of cricket in Sri Lanka.

Speaking at the media briefing, President of MCA Nalin Wickramasinghe said, “It is an historical moment not only for MCA but also to Huawei and Cric HQ. We are very happy to be here at this occasion, not only myself but my whole team. Thank you very much Huawei Sri Lanka for giving us this opportunity! It is a proud moment for us to join hands with such an established company such as Huawei.”
