A felicitation ceremony for the people who were remanded during the previous “Good Governance” regime was held today (02nd) in Hambantota with the participation of Hambantota district MP Namal Rajapaksa.
The people felicitated were those who were remanded after leading the protests in Hambantota back in January 2017 against the proposals to lease the Mattala Int’l Airport and Hambantota Port to China.
It is noteworthy that a few MPs including MP Namal Rajapaksa were also arrested and charged by the Police during these protests and they were also felicitated in this ceremony.
