The shortlists for seven of the individual categories of ICC Awards 2021, revealed The winners of the  Awards will be announced on 23 & 24

It’s that time of the year when ICC recognises and celebrates the achievement of players and teams over the past year. The last 12 months have seen brilliant performances on the world stage, including in the ICC World Test Championship Final, ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 and numerous hard-fought bilateral series.

The nominees for each category have been decided by the Awards Panel, which comprises prominent journalists and broadcasters from across the globe as well as the ICC General Manage.

Here are all the categories with their nominees.

Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year – for the best overall performer in men’s international cricket (Tests, ODIs and T20Is) during 2021

Apart from the aforementioned categories, ICC will also select the winner of ICC Emerging Men’s Cricketer of the Year, ICC Emerging Women’s Cricketer of the Year, ICC Men’s Associate Cricketer of the Year, ICC Women’s Associate Cricketer of the Year, ICC Spirit of Cricket Award and ICC Umpire of the Year.

What are the categories for Team of the Year?

Along with individual awards, the ICC will also determine the Team of the Year for ICC Men’s Tests ICC Men’s ODIs, ICC Women’s ODI, ICC Men’s T20I, and ICC Women’s T20I.

How will the winners be decided?

Like the ICC Player of the Decade Awards last year, fans of the game will have a say in the outcome of the results. Starting 5 January, 2022, fans can vote for the nominees of the following categories:

– Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year
– Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy for ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year
– ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year
– ICC Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year
– ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year
– ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year
– ICC Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year

The winners of the remaining categories of player Awards will be determined by the Voting Academy. The winner of the ICC Spirit of Cricket Award will be selected by ICC Management after ICC’s Elite Panel of Umpires and Match Referees recommend the shortlist.

For ICC Umpire of the Year, the Elite Panel Match Referees and captains of ICC Full Member men’s and women’s teams will vote to determine the winner.

The Teams of the Year will be determined by the Voting Academy who will identify their teams in batting order, selecting a balanced team of batters, bowlers and one wicketkeeper. They will also nominate a captain from their selections for each format.

What’s the weightage of votes?

The fan vote will make up 10% of the voting, while that of the Voting Academy will make up the remaining 90%.

When will the results be announced?

The winners of the Women’s Awards will be announced on 23 January while the Men’s Awards, Spirit of Cricket, and Umpire Award will be announced on 24 January.
